Shenandoah National Park: Study Area Map

Map of Shenandoah National Park Created with Google MyMaps

First Experience Working with Google MyMaps

Working with Google MyMaps was a straightforward and fast process. The tool is very user-friendly, making it accessible for beginners. Users can customize their maps by adding various elements such as markers, lines for routes or boundaries, shapes for areas of interest, and text descriptions. This customization feature allows for a personalized and informative map presentation.

Additionally, the capability of allowing multiple users to edit and view maps simultaneously was really interesting for me. While MyMaps doesn't offer many advanced options for creating maps suitable for publication in places like journals, it's a great starting point. Using MyMaps can build confidence and ease the transition to more complex software like ArcGIS.

The map I've created highlights key features of my study area, Shenandoah National Park, including rivers, trails, mountains, and the visitor center.
